5 TURNING POINTS ON MY PATH OF ENGLISH LEARNING
It is the 16th year since I took the first English lessen in Grade 3 as a primary school pupil. But for the turning points I have come across back in these years, I wouldn't have made progress in this language. A lot of people have been learning this for a long time and find that they learn it for nothing the moment they encounter with a foreign friend and have a hard time understanding what the guy is saying or don't know how to make himself understood to the foreigner, either. They may discover it in panic that they have accumulated vocabularies for decades and still want to find the translation when they have something new from abroad without script or subtitle. They have been learning a language that they find few opportunity to apply. I wouldn't have been to this level in English if I hadn't bumped into something bringing my English a real improvement.
You may learn English for something or nothing at all. English learning is not about time, but a nonstop cultivation with right approach and great motivation. It is doomed that you are an English deaf if you keep learning without an clear and concrete aim. That is to say, if the aim is good enough, you may find that promotion is done in just a short period, compared with the long term you have been spent in this language, in the degree greater than you could expect.
I earn my experience and progress in English through the following turning points.

A TALK WITH FOREIGN GUEST ON THE WEDDING OF A RELATIVE
I found that I spoke a lot more English than I have done in the first term as a freshman in college. He is a man in middle age from Iran. We talked about Chinese culture in weeding and the difference between Chinese dishes and Iranian ones. I used to have little chance to practice spoken English in college, no matter it is in English class or in the communication of the so called English corner. This talk between us made me realize that I still have a long way to go if I wanna make fluent and smooth communication with foreigners. And this becomes the reason behind my eagerness on enlarging the vocabulary volume and improving pronunciation for a better communication in English.

TAKE PART IN THE MOOT COURT COMPETITION WITH ENGLISH AS LANGUAGE
I had become a member of team for moot court competition. It was about acting as the claimant or respondent in a dispute seeking legal remedy by arbitration. And it is a yearly competition in Beijing, with all the candidates speaking English during the communication concerning laws and regulations. I have to go over English materials on legal issue and case brief in limited time and figure out what is useful to us and favorable to our team. And I am supposed to present my argument with persuasive story and legal provision and lead the arbitrators to the conclusion to our advantage. I had got my skills in reading, listening, speaking and writing promoted during this process where I was required to read various books and info on website for materials and evidence applicable, communicate in English to give the case a reasoning logical and rational.

FINISH READING THE FIRST ENGLISH NOVEL AND WRITE A REVIEW ABOUT IT
I start reading the first English novel named The girl on the train in 2016. I haven't read any novel completely but just the excerpts. And the finishing of this English original makes me confident and motivated to more reading of works from various authors and on different topics. Writing review after reading provides an opportunity of output subsequent to the input, which makes the input more goal directed and output oriented. I found it easy to get what's on my mind onto the paper in English after I wrote that book review.
WORK IN THE FACTORY AS THE CONTACT FOR FOREIGN CUSTOMERS
I have been working for a factory exporting products to European and American market. And this working environment makes a difference to my English level. I keep replying emails in English to get issues settled and provide feedback available. The frequent photo calls coming sharpen my hearing for English communication. The experience of interpretation in meetings with foreign customers smoothens my reaction in English conversation and enhances my English mode of thinking.

I have come across a course on translation produced by a master in English lately. And his illustration on how to transform English into Chinese and Chinese from English is perfectly helpful. I am sure it will be my fifth turning point in English learning.
