雅思大作文008–当今世界我们面临太多的选择了吗？（2018剑13Test2真题）

一、题目

Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

二、解析

这是一个社会生活类的观点型题目。题目要点是当今我们的生活中是否存在太多的选择。这个题目我的直觉是非常赞同，因为这个题目一下就让我联想到社交媒体的信息爆炸、实体店和网店应有尽有的玲琅满目的商品、生活中如影随形和铺天盖地的广告、衣柜里堆积如山的服饰、学校开设的五花八门的学位和课程、图书馆海量的纸质和电子藏书等等，这个清单还可以无限制地延伸下去。现在的问题是我该如何组织这些素材，让它们卓有成效地论证和阐释我的主旨和观点。

在这里我想到了唐伟胜老师的物质、精神和社会三大层次理论，但在这篇文章里好像不太合适；那么从人的四大需要—衣食住行着手，好像也不太全面。之后我又想到了马斯洛的需求层次理论：生理的、安全的、归属的、尊重的和自我实现的需求。我发现现代人其实只是在生理和自我实现两个层面拥有了更多的选择，而在其他三个方面选择并不见得有多少增加，如果这样铺陈文稿感觉有一定难度。最后想来想去，不然就笼统地使用有形和无形两种分类来讨论现代人的需求增长过大问题似乎更好把握和操作一些。

题目分析到这里，思路已经基本清晰，所以下面开始动笔创作文稿。

二、一稿全文

It seems that in the era of our parents or grandparents, our seniors were always baffled/perplexed（这里想用困扰一词但不太确定是哪一个，所以先写上两个词备用。正式考试时我会直接选一个简单的表达，比如 “suffer a lot from”但在平时的练笔中我会在写完初稿后去查一下字典选一个更贴切的词来丰富我的语言表达资源。) by the lack of basic living resources let along greater spiritual freedom, however, nowadays we comtemprary earth dwellers are cursed by another nuisance—too many choices. （在这里，我通过古今对比引出话题和立场，在一定程度上避免了雷同的模版式开场。）

To begin with, we modern people are surrounded by too many visible choices. Just take a look at our room, residential compound and living community, we can easily see our room are packed with more than enough clothes we can wear, too many food we can eat in the refrigerator, too much space for us to live and more than enough ways of transportation we can choose from, such as private cars, subway trains, mobike sharing bicycles, buses and internet car hailing service. What’s more, if we pay a visit to the local shopping malls or log onto the e-commerce website like the Amazon.com or T-Mall of Taobao.com, we are very likely to be dazzled by the infinite number of items available to us consumers and the  list of tangible materials can go on and on even turning the matter of proper choice into a huge headache for us modern people sometimes.

On top of that, too many invisible choices also pose great trouble for us to settle on the sensible decision. For example, city residents find it very hard to determine which goods of similar uses to purchase when they are bombarded by the endless advertisement commercials; migrant workers find it difficult to select jobs, bosses or places that are most suitable for them when they are faced with too much relevant information online; high school graduates and their dedicated parents encounter huge annoyance of opting for the most suitable higher education institutes  and programmes for the kids’ further study due to more than enough amount of enrollment publicity available to them, so on and so forth. In short, us modern people are besieged by invisible bits of useful or useless data and more often than not (这个词是不是经常的意思我不太确定。正式考试时我会换一个自己更有把握的词，但如果是平时练笔我会在完成初稿后去查阅资料来学习一个新词的用法。）.

In summary, modern men and women are living in a world with more than enough choices for them to utilize and digest, this situation is more a curse than a blessing. Measures need to be taken to address this issue before it deteriorates into something beyond our grip.
