先看原文：
I believe in life now. I am not so sure that I would have believed in it so deeply, otherwise. I don't mean that I would prefer to go without my eyes. I simply mean that the loss of them made me appreciate the more what I had left.
第一句：I believe in life now.
注意用的是“believe in”，而不是“believe”，believe in sth 表示“相信……有价值”，而believe sth 表示“相信……为真”。他这里表达的意思是“相信生命的价值”，所以用believe in。
译文：现在我相信生活。
第二句：I am not so sure / that I would have believed in it so deeply, / otherwise.
一个句型：I am not so sure + that + 句子，我不能肯定某事
otherwise: 要不然、否则，相当于“if not”，跟前面的It occurred to me the other day that I might not have come to love life as I do if I hadn't been blind中的“I hadn't been blind”一样，只是省略成了“if not”，即otherwise。
译文：但我不能肯定如果自己是明眼人，会不会像现在这样深深地相信生活。
第三句：I don't mean / that I would prefer to go without my eyes.
I don't mean + that + 句子，我并不是说某事。
prefer to do sth 宁愿做某事，更愿意做某事，相当于“want to do sth more”
go without my eyes指“变成盲人”。
译文：这并不意味着我宁愿成为盲人。
语法小贴士
第四句：I simply mean / that the loss of them made me appreciate the more what I had left.
又一个“that + 句子”的结构，看到了吗？跟前面一样。
what I had left, 是指除了眼睛外留下的脑、嘴、耳朵等其他器官。
译文：而只是意味着失去视力使我更加珍惜自己其他的能力了。
