名诗我译（泰戈尔篇）——吉檀迦利33

When it was day they came into my house and said,

`We shall only take the smallest room here. '

They said, `We shall help you in the worship of your God

and humbly accept only our own share in his grace';

and then they took their seat in a corner

and they sat quiet and meek.

白天，他们进入到我房子里时说

我们只占用这儿最小的一个房间

他们说：“我们要帮你礼拜上帝

并谦卑地只领受

我们应得一份恩典

于是，他们在屋角找了座位

安静恭顺地坐下

But in the darkness of night I find they break into my sacred shrine, strong and turbulent, and snatch with unholy greed the offerings from God's altar.

但在夜的黑暗中

我却发现他们

蛮横地闯入我的圣堂

带着邪恶的贪念

抢走神坛上的祭品……
