如何中文美文翻译成英文美文(比喻篇)

张培基译文: The lane is a safe haven for those struggling in the turbulent sea of humans to enjoy a sense of security. It is a heavenly abode in the midst of confusion. Unlike the erstwhile plank-paved path used exclusively by the imperial family for their vehicles to move on smoothly, the lane is a place for the common people to roam about leisurely.

原文: 巷，是人海汹汹中的一道避风塘，给人带来安全感; 是城市喧嚣扰攘中的一带洞天幽境，胜似皇家的阁道，便于平常百姓徘徊徜徉。

翻译技巧一

介词的运用出神入化。译文用介词就可以把整段文词连接起来。结构如下:

sth is…for sb. in sp. to…

而在…之中的表达就是 in the midst of

翻译技巧二

善用形容词和副词，它们起着精细描述的效果，给译文一种画面感。

译文因为 “safe” “heavenly” “exclusively” “smoothly”和“leisurely”的使用，基本把原文的意境传达了出来。

中文的很多词英文中找不到对应的表达，比如“避风塘”，这时形容词＋名词的结构或者单个名词就可以派上用场，所以译为"a safe haven"

这样的话“洞天幽境”就是“heavenly abode”

“人海汹汹”就是“the turbulent sea of humans”

“喧嚣扰攘”就只是一个名词“confusion”

翻译技巧三

适当增译，如“胜似皇家的阁道，便于平常百姓徘徊徜徉”译为“Unlike the erstwhile plank-paved path used exclusively by the imperial family for their vehicles to move on smoothly, the lane is a place for the common people to roam about leisurely”

用了Unlike…used by…for…to…, the lane is…for…to…的句型结构，在这个结构里解释了皇家阁道，很好的照顾了外国读者，而且这样增译之后，使译文具有英语的形式美，读起来比较对仗，“royal family”对“common people”，而“move on smoothly”和“roam about leisurely”结构上也相似

翻译技巧一

A of B的结构在翻译中的运用，比如:

“飘逸恬静的散文”中“飘逸恬静”为A, 那么“散文”就是“B”,所以在这个结构里，用公式表示就是A的B,但翻译成英文则应该是B of A，

“散文”为 prose

飘逸恬静为gentle gracefulness

所以最终为 prose of gentel gracefulness

以此类推:“古雅冲淡古雅冲淡的图画”就是“a painting of classic elegance and simplicity”

翻译技巧二

那怎么处理“飘逸恬静”和“古雅冲淡”这两个四字格呢?

那就要用到我之前的公式了:

四字格=形容词＋名词(优先选择) 或者 名词

从理解汉语四字格的意思入手，然后在大脑中搜寻相对应的形容词和名词即可。
