beginning

If I happen to be alone and in an idle mood, I play a game of solitaire, of which I am very fond. I use playing cards marked in the upper right-hand corner with braille symbols which indicate the value of the card. If there are children around, nothing pleases me so much as to frolic with them.

原来不仅仅是读书，海伦也爱打牌，也爱和其他孩子做游戏。

Museums and art stores are also sources of pleasure and inspiration. Doubtless it will seem strange to many that the hand unaided by sight can feel action, sentiment, beauty in the cold marble; and yet it is ture that I derive genuine pleasure from touching great works of art.

博物馆和艺术品商店，原来艺术是可以用手触摸进而感知的，谢谢你，海伦，让我感受到不顾一切追寻自己所喜所爱事物的含义。

I have often been asked,"Do not people bore you?" I do not understand quite what that means. I suppose the calls of the stupid and curious, especially of newspaper reporters, are always inopportune. I also dislike people who try to talk down to my understanding. they are like people who when walking with you try to shorten their steps to suit yours; the hypocrisy in both case is equally exasperating.

两种会使海伦讨厌，一个是不合适的问题，一个是不合适的做法。当一个班级里有口吃或者其他缺陷的同学时，不懂事的孩子回去模仿，这是明着伤自尊，和不相信海伦理解力，继而把简单的话重复一遍又一遍，解释一遍又一遍的行为，有着相似之处。

I am too happy in this world to think much about the future, except to remember that I have cherished friends awaiting me there in God's beautiful Somewhere.

在这个世界上，我感到很快乐，很少考虑到未来；但我仍记得远在天堂的几位好友。
快乐，海伦也能快乐的生活，为什么我们这些能看见，能听见的人反而不那么快乐呢？是不是因为看了不该看的东西，听了不该听的言语，扰乱了我们的心智？

Sometimes I have thought it would be an excellent rule to live each day as if we should die tomorrow. Such an attitude would emphasize sharply the values of life. We should live each day with a gentleness, a vigor, and a keenness of appreciation which are often lost **when time stretches **before us in the constant panorama of more days and months and years to come.

珍惜今天，就像明天不再来临一般，这样，我们眼里便不会只剩下当下我们正在做的。我们能感受更多。

In stories the doomed hero is usually saved at the last minute by some stroke of fortune, but almost always his sense of values is changed. he becomes more appreciative of the meaning of life and its permanent spiritual values. It has often been noted that those who live, or have lived, in the shadow of death bring a mellow sweetness to everything they do. Most of us, however, take life for granted. we know that one day we must die, but usually we picture that day as far in the future. When we are in buoyant health,death is all but unimaginable. We seldom think of it. The days stretch out in an endless vista. So we go about our petty tasks, hardly aware of our listless attitude toward life.

海伦对"把今天当做生命最后一天的解释"，因为我们今天活的好好的，所以以为明天不会死亡，死亡还很遥远，但是，从死亡边缘擦身而过的人们，转变了对价值的认知，从前追名逐利，现在热爱生命。为什么我们要再失去健康才知道健康的重要性？为什么珍惜现有，却是又一个残疾人来教导我们？尼克胡哲对生命的尖刺和热爱感动了我，世界上那么多的残疾人，身残心不残，给我们这些正常人吹响警笛。

On the first day, I should want to see the people whose kindness and gentleness and companionship have made my life worth living.

假如海伦有三天光明，第一天，献给帮助过她给予她温暖的人们。困难时期，朋友、家人无私的关怀，往往给了我们重新振作的勇气。还记得刘涛和王珂吗？经历事业打击，而一蹶不振的王珂，在妻子刘涛无微不至的关怀和努力下，恢复正常，成了一段佳话。而海伦，在陷入黑暗的初期，也易怒，也发狂，而莎莉文老师的到来，慢慢的改善了这一状况，渐入佳境。所以恢复光明第一天，去看人。

the next day- the second day of sight- I should arise with the dawn and see the thrilling miracle by which night is transformed into the day. I should behold with awe the magnificent panorama of light with which the sun awakens the sleeping earth. this day I should devote to a hasty glimpse of the world, past and present.

因为只有三天光明，所以，即使在夜晚，海伦也不舍得闭眼，想要看看黑夜和白天如何转换。想象一下，如果你老婆趴在窗台，大晚上不睡觉，说我要等天明，看黑暗如何被驱散，你是不是会骂一句“有病”，然后自顾自的睡去了？因为，我们习以为常，所以，错失了很多美好。恢复光明第二天，去看事。

The following morning, I should again greet the dawn anxious to discover new delights, for I am sure that, for those who have eyes which really see, the dawn of each day must be a perpetually new revelation of beauty.

一路走走停停，去发现美好。恢复光明第三天，去经历。
