书中的Sherlock Holmes

作为一个资深夏洛克粉，苦等三年，终于等来了第四季，第一集个人感觉没有预想的那么出彩，但又有什么关系呢？有卷福就够了。

虽然看了影视再看书，那种角色代入感挥之不去，但原著中的人物塑造比短短的影视作品要来得丰满得多了。

今天就来看看书中的夏洛克和华生是怎么样的两个“基友”？

1. 夏洛克的长相：

书中的Sherlock Holmes

In height he was rather over six feet, and so excessively lean that he seemed to be considerably taller.  His eyes were sharp and piercing, save during those intervals of torpor to which I have alluded; and his thin, hawk-like nose gave his whole expression an air of alertness and decision. His chin, too, had the prominence and squareness which mark the man of determination.

约1.83米的身高，很瘦，眼神比较犀利，鹰钩鼻，下巴四方前突。(肯定没有卷福帅)

Few men were capable of greater muscular effor, and he was undoubtedly one of the finest boxers of his weight.

虽瘦，但还是强壮有力型的。(这点感觉卷福身上没体现出来)

2. 夏洛克的生活习惯

Holmes was quiet in his ways, and his habits were regular. It was rare for him to be up after ten night, and he had invariably breakfasted and gone out.

安静，作息规律，早睡早起。（破案期间就不能这样喽）

With his long,white,nervous fingers he adjusted the delicate needle and rolled back his left shirtcuff. For some little time his eyes rested thoughtfully upon the sinewy forearm and wrist, all dotted and scarred with innumerable puncture-marks. Finally, he thrust the sharp point home, pressed down the tiny piston, and sank back into the velvet-lined armchair with a long sigh of satisfaction.

这是描写夏洛克在注射可卡因，而且他前臂和手腕处的无数个针眼，说明夏洛克的吸毒史不是一天两天的事。（破案期间是不吸毒的，后来在华生的帮助下戒掉了）

3. 夏洛克的薄弱点

His ignorance was as remarkable as his knowledge. Of contemporary literature, philosophy and politics he appeared to know next to nothing.

原来夏洛克不是上知天文下知地理的神人呐，他在文学，哲学，天文，政治方面的知识基本空白。(对此夏洛克的解释是：a fool takes in all the lumber of every sort. 傻瓜才会想要无所不知呢。)

"My mind," Holmes said,"rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram, or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere...But I abhor the dull routine of existence."

确实，夏洛克就是个十足的工作狂，有案子，人就正常 (案子越复杂越亢奋)；没案子，人就不正常 (于是就吸毒)。

4. 夏洛克的迷人之处

For a whole day Holmes had rambled about the room with his chin upon his chest and his brows knitted, charging and recharging his pipe with the strongest black tobacco, and absolutely deaf to any of my questions or remarks.

完全沉浸在自己思索中的夏洛克是最最帅的 (也就是工作中的人最美): 皱着眉，低着头，踱着步，烟斗或明或灭，烟草味刺鼻，对一切充耳不闻。(书中描述沉思用了不少动词，比如：bury, sink, immerse, absorb, dip ...)

He could play pieces, and difficult pieces, because at my request he has played me some of Mendelssohn's Lieder, and other favourites... I might have rebelled against these exasperating solos had it not been that he usually terminated them by playing in quick succession a whole series of my favourite airs as a slight compensation for the trial upon my patience.

拉着门德尔松小提琴曲的夏洛克铁定也是帅帅的，主要是，夏洛克知道自己的琴声有时比较恼人，在华生即将不耐烦时，拉首华生喜欢的曲子给予安抚，有点温暖。(书中对两人关系的描写，虽没有影视中的浓浓基情，但确实也是情真意切的）

5. 夏洛克的迷之处

He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer.

如此睿智绅士的夏洛克，对爱情对女人，从没表现出兴趣过。(腐国腐男嘛，现在来看也不奇怪哈)

His aversion to women and his disinclination to form new friendships were both typical of his unemotional character, but not more so than his complete suppression of every reference to his own people.

对女人反感，不愿结交朋友，让夏洛克尽显冷漠，更无情的是，他从不提及家人。(开始华生以为夏洛克是孤儿，后来才知道还有个高智商的哥哥)

再来看看华生，书中正面描述比较少。

1. 华生的长相

书中的Sherlock Holmes

(1) as thin as a lath and as brown as a nut

(2) a middle-sized, strongly built man -- square jaw, thick neck, a moustache

(3)  he was strongly attracted to women, who in turn find him attractive.

从阿富汗战场上受伤回来的华生是瘦得像板条，脸黄像栗子；后来慢慢恢复，中等身材，健壮，方下巴，脖子粗壮，有胡子。喜欢女人，也有女人缘 (这点我真没觉得，可能被卷福转移了注意力了)。

2. 华生的婚姻

My marriage had drifted us away from each other. My own complete happiness, and the home-centred interests which rise up around the man who first finds himself master of his own establishment, were sufficient to absorb all my attention.

华生还是个比较居家的男人。(这样看来，华生是个straight 直男，那么事实上，一个弯的bent和一个直的之间不太可能产生感情的吧。另外，曾有研究原著的学者指出，华生结了好几次婚，但遭到质疑。)

3. 华生的脾气

Holmes had emerged in no very sweet temper to lecture me upon my literary shortcomings. I was repelled by the egotism which I had more than once observed to be a strong factor in my friend's singular character.

华生对夏洛克从来都是言听计从的，夏洛克自己办案不太顺时，会对华生的文章吹毛求疵，只有这时，华生才表现出一点点小不满，但一分钟后就消了。（夏洛克办案也是离不开华生的协助的）

这本“Sherlock Holmes”读起来清晰易懂，文笔有点类似新概念的英伦味，人物外貌表情的描写更是值得细读，而且随着每个案件的逻辑发展，到最后，自己都能自行推理一下了。
