Singing Snowberg
Chapter Seven
Lost Language <7>
Chros©“Cyano, you finally come!” She’s excited to see me again. “It’s cold here, I don’t want to stay in the liquid nitrogen, get me out of here. I’ve heard about the magical frost forest, please take me there.”
Salix leads her to our backside and tears apart the illusion easily.
A small snow is falling on the other side, cold wind pierces into the room. Rosa catches a shake. “You should wear a coat, it’s too cold outside.” She shakes her head, “I shook because I was excited. No place is colder than in the liquid nitrogen container.” And she walks out into the snow.
This scene is the only that’s familiar to me, I think I’d been there a thousand times. Rosa leads the way. As we’re walking I started to remember everything that happened in the past, this feeling is magical. I don’t even feel the cold, I’m sweating heavily and I like it. Soon we reach the pond, it’s no longer sealed with ice. It’s strange because sunshine is hot and the snow is still falling.
I take off my coat, “hot, summer is coming.” Rosa kneels down with one knee, “I don’t see the relevance.”
She picked something from the water, dead body of a fish. “Bluenised fish, I remember.” “Bluenised? It’s just a blue fish.” “No, you don’t understand, bluenised creatures.” I don’t know why I get so anxious, just a dead fish!
“It’s okay Cyano, that’s normal alright?” Something’s happening I’m sure. Then I hear a sound from above, oh my god a big tree is falling from the height. “Rosa! No!” It hits her squarely, making a gigantic splash in the pond. The trunk splits into pieces of blue fragments. “Rosa!” “I’m okay.” She stands up looked intact. How is this possible?
“We both know I’m not real,” she smiles weakly, “let’s move, I want to see that mountain.”
There’re rumbling sounds in the distance, danger is falling upon us. I know they’re the falling of trees. It’s too hot here, not suitable for them to survive anymore.
“Sometimes I heard Sunder speaking to you,” Rosa turns around in the sunshine, “I was impressed by the talks about the evolution. She was right about that, about how special creatures survive.” At this moment I start to remember that long talk with her, “I thought I was talking to you.” “No, you’re talking to yourself. You don’t need to believe in Darwin’s theory, but you just can’t hate his theory. There’re so many people survive through screening under the magic of time; while the rest, of course most of them die off for some reasons, their reasons, but there’re things time could’t control, in any cases, these people survive on these things. Do you understand? Don’t shake your head you know, my knowing is your knowing.”
Suddenly I remember the things we talked about for a million times. About the place where we all should get back to. I couldn’t remember the name of that place, or sure about whether it’s a good place. Anyway I’ll remember later. I was just too mean to myself. I need to let go of the past.
We finally see the snowberg on the edge of the forest. It’s still covered with a great white coat. Salix says he has a stomachache, he bents down in pain and he splits in two when two of them stand straight again in front of me. One of them is speaking, “goodbye Cyano.” And what’s more ridiculous is what I’m saying, “goodbye Salix.” No no no don’t go! I want to catch him but this time I can’t control this body. Fuck NO! Don’t go please! Please feel the roar inside this body feel me! He looks back on the surface of the lake and smiles. And I read his smile, speaking, “I want to be there,” he means that snowberg, “I’ll meet you there.” He turns his back at me and keeps moving.
People come and go in my life, some are real, some are... surreal.
“Cyano take my hand.” She holds out her right hand. But I miss it in the midair, what? I couldn’t touch her! I see the smile on her face, “sometimes you understand but couldn’t stop the feeling. Like... you knew Devo didn’t love you like that but you just wanted to get closer. It’s the same for Devo, he didn’t want you to leave but just sent you away... his good friend. Like you know you need to let go of the past but you’re always forced to let go; like right now I want to touch you but I just need to go.”
She leaves on the same route on the water, singing, “I’m where I wanted to be... I’m where I needed to be... I’m where I wanted to be... I’m where I needed to be....”
