At present, a huge number of celebrities are actively participating in international aid organizations. Some hold that famous people's support highlights the importance of the problems; however, others assume that celebrities’ participation weakens the significance of the problems. From my perspective, I strongly incline to the standpoint that celebrities can be extremely effective in terms of furthering the aims of international aid agencies.

Admittedly, for some famous film or sports stars, their support towards international aid organizations may divert public focus away from the real issues that people should be concerned about; as a result, their involvement in some charitable activities does not really draw the attention to problems. Whilst this might sound like a truism, it is nevertheless a crucial problem to address. Even so, there is no denying that many celebrities have used their fame to draw public attention to a wide range of humanitarian and philanthropic activities. This is especially true when they come into direct contact with influential elites or supporters.

First and foremost, when celebrities take part in philanthropic organizations, they can make a difference and do something positive with the platforms they have been blessed with. To be specific, they bring to philanthropy their expertise from fields such as finance, film making, food retail, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, property development, technology and venture capital. Furthermore, famous people have engaged in international assistance, providing support to a plurality of causes including education, entrepreneurship, economic development, poverty alleviation, medical and healthcare research, advocacy and governance and so forth.

In conclusion, celebrities, with their overwhelming influence, fame and wealth, are becoming dominant pillars in international relief organizations. What they bring to charities is more than the glitz and glam. On the contrary, they not only increase public awareness of social issues but also draw public attention to social problems.
