Thou hast made me endless, such is thy pleasure. This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again, and fillest it ever with fresh life.

This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales, and hast breathed though it melodies eternally new.

At the immoral touch of thy hands my little heart loses its limits in joy and gives birth to ulterance ineffable.

Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine. Ages pass, and still thou pourest, and still there is room to fill.

When thou commandest me to sing, it seems that my heart would break with pride; and I look to thy face, and tears come to my eyes.

I know thou takest pleasure in my singing. I know that only as a singer I come before thy presence.

I touch by the edge of the far-spreading wings of my song thy feet which I could never aspire to reach.

Drunk with the joy of singing I forget myself and call thee friend who art my lord.

I know not how thou singest, my master! I even listen in silent amazement.

我知道你沉浸在我歌唱的快乐中。我知道只因我是一个歌者才能存在在你面前。

我的歌曲远伸着羽翼，触到了你的双脚，那是我从来不敢渴望去达到的。

我陶醉在歌唱中，忘了自己，并且称我的主人为朋友。

The light of thy music illumines the world. The life breath of thy music runs from sky to sky. The holy stream of thy music breaks through all stony obstacles and rushes on.

My heart longs to join in thy song, but vainly struggles for a voice. I would speak, but speech breaks not into song, and I cry out baffled. Ah, thou hast made my heart capative in the endless meshes of thy music, my master!

Life of my life, I shall ever try to keep my body pure, knowing that thy living touch is upon all my limbs.

I shall ever try to keep all untruths out from my thoughts, knowing that thou art that truth which has kindled the light of reason in my mind.

你音乐的光芒照亮了世界。你音乐的生命气息从天空来又回到天空去。你音乐的圣泉穿过一切岩石的阻挡，奔涌向前。

我的心渴望加入到你的歌声中，但是为了一个声音徒劳地挣扎着。我要说话，但是语言并不能变成歌曲，我哭不出来。我的心被你音乐无止境的大网所俘获了，我的主人！

我生命的生命，我要永远保持此身的纯净，因为我知道你的生命触碰于我全部的肢干上；

我将虚伪从我的脑海在永远地删除，因为我知道你就是在我思想中燃起理智之火的真理。

I shall never try to drive all evils away from my heart and keep my love in flower, knowing that thou hast thy seat in the inmost shrine of my heart.

And it shall be my endeavour to reveal thee in my actions, knowing it is thy power gives me strength to act.

我要将一切丑恶从我心中驱逐，让我的爱开花，因为我知道你在我内心最圣洁的地方。

我要竭力付出行动来展现你，因为我知道是你的力量给了我动力去行动。
