【原创双语】现代艺术家印象(1)

    作为一名业余现代艺术史爱好者,我想在这里谈谈我对各派近现代艺术家作品的总体印象和看法。毋庸置疑,这会是一篇非常主观的文章,我也绝不会自诩正确——艺术是无分对错的,一件作品的意义和重要性对每个人都是不一样的,而评论艺术唯一忌讳的就是较真。尤其是那些非要把风格、技巧和思想流派完全不一样的艺术家当中一较高下的批评家,他们除了满足自己的虚荣心以外真是毫无贡献啊。

    因此,我会严格遵循只谈自身感受,坚决避免妄加评判的原则。我非常喜欢的达达主义艺术家马赛尔·杜尚曾经说过,艺术是所有时期所有人共同参与的一场游戏:是创作者的视觉“输出”和观看者的理解共同赋予一幅画意义,而在杜尚眼里,这两者的作用几乎同样重要。

    作为爱好者,我们同样也是这场浩大游戏中的一员玩家;游戏的真谛在于发现一种高级的精神乐趣,在了解艺术的同时了解我们自己,丰富自我内心的旅程。你,做好了这样的准备吗?

    两个弗里达(弗里达·卡罗尔)

    It's very hard for me to look at Frida's paintings. They give me shivering pain up my spines and right though the top of my skull. The tenacity of life in these paintings are unimaginable. I have to confess my admiration for her. She is no ordinary woman, or conventional human. She's Frida.

    弗里达(墨西哥女画家)的作品对我来说是比较难以直视的(非贬义)。它们让我感受到一股颤抖的痛苦,从我的脊椎至升头盖骨。这些画作背后的生命的顽强简直难以想象(Frida青少年时期遭遇车祸,下半身粉碎性骨折,终身不孕不育)。我必须承认我对她的崇敬。她可不是一般的女人,甚至是普通的人。她就是弗里达。

    Georgia O'Keefe's paintings, on the other hand, are light, serene and powerful. There is a vague tenderness behind her lines, which really makes you feel in tune with some greater mysteries of nature.

    Picabia. Dreamlike, mysterious, beautiful and layered linings drive you insane. A bridge between Cubism and later Surrealism. He has a great sense of space and structure. There's something in my unconscious mind that rings with his paintings. You want to search for the details, as if you are invited into a massive scavenger hunt. As a photographer, I appreciate his early venture into "multiple exposure" as an visual artist.

    Boccioni and Severini are quite similar, although the former seem to evoke more extreme and intense emotional response from me than the latter. There is immense tension in everything they paint. The energy contained in those fractured images are perhaps enough to blow up the entire world, like a nuclear bomb. This makes me think that perhaps the external world does reflect the state of human consciousness somehow. The frantic air of the Futurists seems like a prophecy of our doomed fate to annihilate everything from the past in the upcoming world war. While I am terrified by Futurist paintings and ideologies, I find them the most intriguing to look at. They also had humongous influence on my photographic style today.
