死神，你的仆人在我门口。他渡过未知的海，把你的召唤带到我家。

夜色深沉，我心惶恐——但我仍提起灯，打开门，向他鞠躬欢迎。站在我门口的是你的信使。

我把心中的珍宝放在他脚下向他致敬。

他将回去复命，留下一个暗影在我的晨光里；而在我空荡的家中，只剩下我孤身一人，作为我最后给你的献祭。

Death, thy servant, is at my door. He has crossed the unknown sea and brought thy call to my home.

The night is dark and my heart is fearful--yet I will take up the lamp, open my gates and bow to him my welcome. It is thy messenger who stands at my door.
