看老友记学英语 （009）- 只有逼自己一把才能坚持下去

打卡学习老友记第九期了，有很多朋友告诉我他们也非常希望提高英语水平，但是学起来总是三天打鱼，两天晒网，坚持不下去。其实针对于这种情况我是深有感触的，因为我以前也是这么过来的。

那么后来我是怎么坚持下来的呢？希望我实践总结出的下边几条方法能够帮助到你。

1. 一定要搞清楚你为什么要学英语

动力是一切行动的根本，找到你的动因才可以在你懈怠的时候给你提供继续前进的力量。有很多朋友可能只是想学英语，觉得可能有用，但是没有真正思考过到底有什么用。就像建一座房子，如果你连地基都没有打好的话，是很难能建立起来的。

对于我来说，因为在外企工作，所以英语是考量你能不能升职加薪的重要因素，而升职加薪又会直接影响到我的生活质量，所以学英语就和我的生存和生活紧密联系起来了，想不重视都难。

2. 找到适合自己的方法

学英语的方法有千万种，每天都有很多大神分享自己的学习经验，但是还是有很多人学不好英语。原因就是没有找到一套适合自己的学习方法。

正确的学习方法有多重要呢，打个比喻，如果把学习过程比作走一段漫长的路，那么学习方法就像一双鞋子，只有鞋子合脚的时候才能够正真走的长远，鞋子太大或太小都很难坚持下去。

我现在分享和总结的就是我摸索出来的学习方法，我之所以能够坚持，很大程度上就是因为我找到了适合自己的学习方法。

3. 要狠心逼自己一把

现在我们有了动力，有了学习方法，最后就差每天持续努力的坚持了。这时候就需要逼自己一把。

怎么逼呢？

上课你喜欢吗？不喜欢。但是你还是天天上啊。上班你喜欢吗？不喜欢。但是你每天都不会迟到。为什么呢？因为上班和上课都不只是你一个人的事了，中间有很多人会参与进来，你如果不坚持，会影响到很多人和很多人对你的评价。

所以一样的道理，学习英语也可以通过这种方式，让很多人参与进来。对于我来说，我选择了在简书上分享，和建立微信学习群的方式，每天逼自己更新。因为你要坚持自己许诺过的东西。

这三点希望对你有帮助。

102 The One With  the Sonogram at the End

第一幕：[Scene Central Perk, everyone's there.]

Monica:What you  guys don't understand is, for us, kissing is as important as any part of it.

Joey:Yeah,  right!.......Y'serious?

Phoebe:Oh, yeah!

Rachel:Everything  you need to know is in that first kiss.

Monica:Absolutely.

Chandler:Yeah, I  think for us, kissing is pretty much like an opening act, y'know? I mean it's  like the stand-up comedian you have to sit through before Pink Floyd comes  out.

Ross:Yeah,  and-and it's not that we don't like the comedian, it's that-that... that's  not why we bought the ticket.

Chandler:The  problem is, though, after the concert's over, no matter how great the show  was, you girls are always looking for the comedian again, y'know? I mean,  we're in the car, we're fighting traffic... basically just trying to stay  awake.

Rachel:Yeah,  well, word of advice: Bring back the comedian. Otherwise next time you're  gonna find yourself sitting at home, listening to that album alone.

Joey:(pause)....Are we still talking about sex?

解析：
1. Opening act:序幕,开场表演
After the opening act, each dancer takes his
turn on stage。开幕式结束以后，每一个舞者陆续登场。
2. stand-up comedian脱口秀喜剧演员；单口相声演员。
可以联想到：comedy -喜剧，一种名词变成一类人的变法就是变y为i再加an.
3. sit through:一直挺到结束；耐着性子看完
看电影的时候就可以这样表达。This movie  is so boring that I cannot sit through it.
4. word of advice：给你一个建议
你建议朋友不要吃路边摊就可以说：Word of  advice: avoid street food.
整段话的意思就是，男女双方用了一个看演唱会的比喻来争论约会中吻的重要性。后来Joey又一次地听不懂了，问道：我们还在谈原来的话题吗？

第二幕：[Scene:MuseumofPrehistoric History, Ross and a  co-worker (Marsha) are setting up an exhibit which includes some mannequins  of cave people.]

Ross:No, it's  good, it is good, it's just that- mm- doesn't she seem a little angry?

Marsha:Well, she  has issues.

Ross:Does she？

Marsha:He's out  banging other women over the head with a club, while she sits at home trying  to get the mastodon smell out of the carpet!

Ross:Marsha,  these are cave people. Okay? They have issues like 'Gee, that glacier's  getting kinda close.' See?

Marsha:Speaking  of issues, isn't that your ex-wife?

译文：不，这样很好，只是她看起来是不是有点生气吗?

解析：
1. He's out banging
other women over the head with a club根据说话人的意思,这句话的中文意思是“他在外面到处沾花惹草”club在这里的作名词,是“棍棒,球棒”的意思.如果直译,本句可译为：“他到外面用棍棒打女人们的头”；不过,bang在粗俗的口语中有“和...发生关系”的意思,因此,本句应该是“他在外面到处沾花惹草”的一种隐喻的说法。
2. Glacier: n.冰河，冰川可以联想到glace,冰的意思。
(Carol, Ross's  ex-wife, has entered behind them and is standing outstide the exhibit.)
Ross:(trying to  ignore her) No. No.
Marsha:Yes, it  is. Carol! Hi!
Ross:Okay,  okay, yes, it is. (waves) How about I'll, uh, catch up with you in the Ice  Age.
(Marsha extis and Ross  waves Carol into the exhibit.)

Ross:Ah, well,  in here, anyone who... stands erect... So what's new? Still, uh...
Carol:A lesbian?
Ross:Well...  you never know. How's, um.. how's the family?
Carol:Marty's  still totally paranoid. Oh, and, uh-
Ross:Why- why  are you here, Carol?
Carol:I'm  pregnant.
Ross:Pregnant?!

解析：
1. stand erect:挺身而立。我们小时候教科书里经常会形容雪松不畏严寒，，保持挺立，就可以说- They  stand erect and unbending in face of North China's violent wind and  snow.
这是虽在北方的风雪的压迫下却保持着倔强挺立的一种树！
2. paranoid:类似妄想狂的；属于偏执狂的。生活中经常会遇到死犟的人，就可以形容为：She is  overly paranoid.
3. Pregnant:怀孕的，如果你看过中国合伙人应该记得黄晓明饰演的新东方创始人刚开始办班的时候就解析过这个单词：扑来个男的。

第三幕：[Scene: Monica and  Rachel's,Chandler,  Joey, Phoebe, and Monica are watchingThree's Company.]

Chandler:Oh, I  think this is the episode of Three's Company where there's some kind of  misunderstanding.

Phoebe:...Then  I've already seen this one! (Turns off the TV.)

Monica:(taking a  drink from Joey) Are you through with that?

Joey:Yeah,  sorry, the swallowing slowed me down.

Monica:Whose  little ball of paper is this?!

Chandler:Oh, uh,  that would be mine. See, I wrote a note to myself, and then I realised I  didn't need it, so I balled it up and... (sees that Monica is glaring at him)  ...now I wish I was dead.

译文：

解析：
be through with:完成；结束。在工作中经常用到，问别人的工作做完了吗，就可以说，Are you  through with your work?

(Monica starts to  fluff a pillow.)

Phoebe:She's  already fluffed that pillow... Monica, you know, you've already fluffed that-  (Monica glares at her.) -but, it's fine!

Monica:Look , I'm  sorry, guys, I just don't wanna give them any more ammunition than they  already have.

Chandler:Yes, and  we all know how cruel a parent can be about the flatness of a child's pillow.

Phoebe:Monica-  Hi! Um, Monica, you're scaring me. I mean, you're like, you're like all  chaotic and twirly. And not-not in a good way.

Joey:Yeah, calm  down. You don't see Ross getting all chaotic and twirly every time they come.

Monica:That's  because as far as my parents are concerned, Ross can do no wrong. Y'see, he's  the Prince. Apparently they had some big ceremony before I was born.

Chandler:(looking  out the window) Ew, ew, ew, ew ew ew ew ew!

Monica:What?

Chandler:Ugly Naked  Guy got a Thighmaster!

All:Eeaagh!

1. Ammunition：弹药；军火
2. chaotic and twirly：慌慌张张的。这个短语我们可以在生活中遇到，特别是上班来不及的时候就可以说，I am  getting all chotic and twirly every time I get up late.
可以联想到另外一个单词：twirl旋转，转动. She
twirled her empty glass in her fingers.她用手指转动着她的空杯子。
3. can do no wrong.：不会犯错。
