似乎国外一直对公立高中有偏见，认为是学不出什么的。但公立高中好像是免费的。在一些影视作品中也常出现这类对话，没接触过这一领域，不大清楚。
The Catholic high school应该属于私立学校里的教会学校，管理还是蛮严格的。位于大伦敦的圣保罗大教堂就是St.Paul's Cathedral，不过一般说Cathedral就可以了

a hotdog stand就是卖热狗的小摊，stand就表示小摊位(例如the news-stand)，有时候也会用stall这个词

主要是这一段想起了另一个蓝色，Indian blue(靛蓝色)在盖茨比扔衬衫的时候出现过，印度的靛蓝航空就是IndiGO
In my job I had to wear white gloves. I was supposed to match negatives with their prints, just look at the picture and look for the same one on the negative strip, put it in the envelope, and do the next one.
这段话还是很好懂的，早期的照片就是冲洗胶片，一拉一长溜，不能见光。柯达多么大的品牌，说倒就倒了。

When lunchtime came, I was scared to eat alone in the company lunchroom with all those men and ladies looking, so I ate real fast standing in one of the washroom stalls and had lots of time left over...
这一段把小姑娘初次工作后与人打交道的紧张感和忐忑写了出来。不要去批评她，这么小去接触社会已经很不容易了。
这里也出现了stall这个词，小隔间。正好网上找到了照片，贴出来。好像是个家居广告。

Papa Who Wakes Up Tired in the Dark
这一篇也比较悲伤，啊！豹豹下次要挑一本快乐的书看，生活已经如此艰难。挑错书了。
Your abuelito is dead, Papa says early one morning in my room. Está muerto, and then as if he just heard the news himself, crumples like a coat and cries, my brave Papa cries. I have never seen my Papa cry and don’t know what to do.

Because I am the oldest, my father has told me first, and now it is my turn to tell the others. I will have to explain why we can’t play. I will have to tell them to be quiet today.
原来Esperanza是家里最大的。

这一段很触动。这一篇很短，也很简单，却用孩子的笔触写出了"子欲养而亲不待"的担忧。
下一篇是讲的Aunt Guadalupe的故事，用无辜的口吻讲了一个略微残忍的生活现实。最感触最后一段
We didn’t know. She had been dying such a long time, we forgot. Maybe she was ashamed. Maybe she was embarrassed it took so many years. The kids who wanted to be kids instead of washing dishes and ironing their papa’s shirts, and the husband who wanted a wife again.
And then she died, my aunt who listened to my poems.
保重好自己的身体，好好健身很有必要，其实是玩笑话。只是这连续的两章有些闷。人只能坦然面对生活，命运的手太恍惚，指到哪里你也没办法逃避。
芒果街竟然过半了，昨天晚上发现已经把第一部分的音频听完了，还挺催眠的，作者的声音也很好听。因为笔记是抽零碎时间一点点拼接起来的，有时可能会不大流畅，忘见谅。
