今日翻译打卡第十一天，完成Unit 8 的英汉互译。由于Unit 7的翻译涉及太多科技术语，所以直接跳过。Unit 8的两篇翻译均与农业技术进步有关，其中也有一些专业术语需要注意。
1.Depending on where and for what purpose the plant is grown, desirable genes may provide features such as higher yield or improved quality, pest or disease resistance, or tolerance to heat, cold and drought.
优质译法：根据农作物的种植区域和种植目的，理想的基因能使作物具有诸如提高产量、改良品质、抗病虫害、耐热耐寒和抗旱等特性。
技巧点拨：说明文的翻译要注意严谨准确，注意译成中文时四字词语的对称。
2. 1978年以来，中国的农业技术得到了很大的改善。
一般译法：Chinese agricultural technology has been greatly improved since 1978.
优质译法：China has significantly improved its agricultural technologies since 1978.
技巧点拨：翻译时要注意适当根据句意调整主语，使英文表达更地道。
3.农村地区的耗电量（它可视为技术现代化的标志）增加了6倍多。
优质译法：Rural electricity consumption, which can be seen as an indicator of technological modernization, has increased more than six-fold.
技巧点拨：注意倍数的翻译，可以用times(倍数), fold(倍数), double(两倍), triple(三倍)表示，例如“十倍”可以译为ten-fold.
4.比起其他发展中国家，中国更早地意识到生物技术对于以后食品保障的重要性。
一般译法：Compared with other developing countries, China has realized the importance of biotechnology on future food security much earlier.
优质译法：Before many other developing countries, China’s government officials have understood the importance of biotechnology for its future food security.
技巧点拨：注意灵活处理“比起.....更早.....”的翻译，同时对于主语“中国”的处理进行了具体化。
